Volunteers can start as early as 7 a.m. but the preferred time is 8 a.m. Enter through the back door and pickup the food from 3 different stations. Volunteers can expect 6 to 10 crates of produce, as well as bread, and dairy, all of which can fit in a 4 door car or SUV.
Ask staff for help at any time if you have a question. Call 512-814-2888 for directions or if you'll be late.
In the produce back room, find the cart in the cooler with 6-10 banana boxes full of a variety of produce. Take the cart load out to the compost barrels and go through the boxes one by one, tossing out any not-eatable, rotten food.
Next, enter the dairy cooler from the back room and look immediately to the right. The first stack of milk crates should be labeled free. Use a two-wheel dolly to take those milk crates.
Last, go to the break room area and get the bread. Load bread into any empty banana boxes or UNFI totes that are handy. If you get their after they have pulled that days bread, then there will be a lot. Take only the previous day's bread.
Deliver to Angel House, 908 E. Cesar Chavez, Austin TX 78702, One block east of I-35 inside Austin Baptist Chapel. Park in front and knock on kitchen door and staff will show you where to unload it.
