We have about 100 turkeys between 12 and 24 pounders, a large amount of assorted veggies, a bunch of side items, and lots of flowers.
Arrive at the rear loading dock of Trader Joe's (2805 Bee Caves Rd, Austin, TX 78746) about 10 a.m. -- we'll work until the food is gone. We typically have anywhere from 500 to 2,000 pounds of food in crates on pallets, which will need to be separated into manageable loads for distribution to multiple locations.
The site coordinator will assign volunteers to drop off at various locations that may change from week to week.
A vehicle is needed to move the food with preference for an SUV, van, or truck, but even a back seat or trunk can hold a lot of food!

As of about 10:30 a.m. all the food has been picked up! In less an an hour, our volunteers mobilized and moved a ton of food to 5 wondeful recipients: SafePlace, Caritas of Austin, Outcry in the Barrio, Foundation for the Homeless, and Posada Esperanza. Special thanks to volunteers Randy Rosens, Kerry Price, Mariah Anger, and Yvette Miller for helping Keep Austin Fed!
